How You Know Material Has Been Updated
Why Material Is Amended
The Building Code of Australia (BCA) is amended every year, Australian Standards, Manufacturer Directions and the like change over time, errors in existing material can be discovered, and new issues continually emerge.
Whilst ABLE endeavours to amend material in a timely manner, individuals must familiarise themselves with relevant Codes and Directions to ensure the material they are using is currently applicable.
You Can Suggest Amendments
In a community of practice people learn how to work smarter by exchanging their experiences with others.
Whether you’re a designer or draftsperson, estimator or scheduler, contract administrator, construction manager, supervisor, tradesperson, supplier or contractor you belong to the industry community and are part of a community of individuals that do what you do.
So why not contribute your insights, quick-tips and learnt from experience “watch out for’s”!
How You Know Material Has Been Updated
A "Current at: (DATE)" tag is provided on all material, usually as a header to the material (as shown at the head of this page). This tag identifies when the material was originally published, or last amended, and should be interpreted as follows:
02 Mar 08
A date by itself (2nd March 2008) identifies when the material was first published.
15 Oct 08 (A)
A date (15th October 2008) followed by a bracketed capital letter (A) identifies that it is an amended version of an original publication, and when the amendment was published.
(A), (B), (C)…
A bracketed capital letter is added to the date at each amendment. Capital (A) indicates this is the FIRST amended version of the material, and a capital (C) indicates this is the THIRD amended version of the material, and so on.
What To Look For
If material has a Current at:(DATE) that is prior to the current 1 May BCA amendments date it has not been updated and could be affected by BCA amendments.
If you have downloaded or used material as a reference source, the Current at: (DATE) verifies if the material is still current. An updated Current at:(DATE) indicates that the material has been amended.
Amendments are ONLY listed when material has been amended. When published material is amended it is listed alphabetically and an indicative description of the change(s) is provided. A typical Amendment entry reads as follows:
